Patrick Bruce Metheny è un chitarrista statunitense.

Prestissimo diventa istruttore all'Università di Miami ed alla Boston's Berklee College of Music, grazie al celebre vibrafonista Gary Burton.

Dal primo album del 1975 (Bright Size Life con Jaco Pastorius), ad oggi Pat Metheny ha avuto un crescendo di consensi sia da parte della critica, ma soprattutto da parte del pubblico, anche quando ha sviluppato nuove esperienze spingendosi fino al free jazz con Ornette Coleman.

È il fondatore nonché il leader del Pat Metheny Group.
